# Xin Yi Liu He Quan

**心意六合拳 • Heart and Intention**

An internal style of six harmonies focused on unity of body, intention and commitment.

**Xin Yi Liu He Quan** means the boxing of the heart and intention of the **six harmonies**. The "heart" refers to the courage required to enter directly into the opponent. "Intention" (yi) is awareness of the part of the body carrying the force throughout the movement, up to impact.

The six harmonies are the six opposing directions: up and down, front and back, and left and right. The style follows two converging principles: economy in movement and unity in attack. Techniques contain no unnecessary gestures, yet their apparent simplicity can conceal several possible defences and attacks.

The whole body enters together, coordinating combinations such as knee and elbow, foot and fist, shoulder and head. The **Henan** tradition includes ten animal techniques, known as Shi Da Xing, or the Ten Great Animals.
